A rainy day for more grads

We had a lot of fun for this session. We had to dodge a bit of rain towards the end, but we managed to hit quite a few locations and get some neat shots. Her dad also told me some fun facts about Tatum O'Neal's (my namesake) recent run-ins with the law. He's very up on his pop culture!



By the time the second session came, it was pouring out. We borrowed one of my favorite porches in Grenfell so we could still do outdoor images. And of course the umbrella was fun to use. Thanks for being such a good sport and going out in the miserable weather!

Grenfell Grads - finally!!

O.k. I know the point of the blog is to give sneak peeks of the images before the whole works go up online, but I've just been so swamped this week. After being gone for a few days last week for the workshop I attended, I came home to two days of Grenfell grads, a newborn session, a kindergarten grad class, and I decided to get a new online ordering system. With all that going on, I wasn't able to get any blog pictures up any earlier. So now that you all have seen your whole galleries, this won't be as exciting. This will be more for all of you other local people who have been waiting to see their images! Thanks for the patience this week!

It's Super Shane!

My crazy week

For those of you who check in regularly, I apologize that it's been over a week since my last post. I have had a super hectic week. I attended a great workshop for three days last week, then came home to photograph two full days of grad students. It's been a bit hairy, but well worth it. The workshop was hosted by Red Leaf Studios (www.redleafstudios.ca) We even got to go out on a few photo shoots, complete with live models!! Very cool. It was awesome to learn some new posing techniques, lighting tips, and see the different equiptment used by the studio. Now I have an even bigger Wish List! I've gone a little post happy tonight, so there are quite a few. I also designed yet another new logo, so any comments on that would be appreciated. I have trouble sticking with one I like :)

I've been looking forward to shooting this session for a long time. I love this kid's uniqueness. He's a talented musician, and has such a fun personality. We braved the nasty Saskatchewan winds, and managed to do a session that totally captured him as he really is.

Wall worthy

I finally got a shot of Aiden that's wall worthy! I'm getting a 24 x 16 print for his bedroom. I love the color of Grandpa's grain truck.

Perfect newborn

This little guy was such an angel. He was awake and so alert when he got here, and he stayed awake until the very end, barely making a peep the entire time. He was just so content. Lucky mom and dad!

The day has finally arrived!!

I can confess, now that the day is over, that I was incredibly nervous about doing this wedding! The bride is a good friend of mine, and it's always scary to photography friends and family. Plus it was all after 7:00 p.m., so the light was low, and that has it's own set of challenges. The wind, thankfully, calmed down a lot after supper, so we were able to get out and shoot at lightning speed to get it all captured before sundown.
This is one of the greatest families I know. It was just so inspiring to watch them go through their vows at the ceremony. To watch their relationship with eachother and their four kids is really encouraging. They all get along so well, and I just loved seeing them all together on saturday. We're all so happy for you guys, and I'm so grateful to have gotten to share the day with you (even though I nearly ended my life trying to answer your cell!) Hope this little preview will hold you over til the rest are ready.

The inspiration for the makeup, done by the bride's awesome sister (I liked this chick. She was fun!)

The Sand Ceremony is done at some weddings, and symbolizes the coming together of two people. The different colored sand represents the individuals. They are brought together in marriage, and should never be seperated, yet they still remain their own unique person. This was extra special in this ceremony, as they incorporated 6 different colored sands, representing the couple and their four children.
