This will officially be the final post I will do on this blog. No, I'm not hanging up the towel on blogging. I'm upgrading!! I've just purchased a brand new blog, and it has huge pictures, a pretty layout, and I LOVE it!!!
Here's the link. Bookmark it, and check in as often as you like!
www.papermoonphotography.com/blog You'll have to copy and paste, because for the life of me, I can't figure out how to make that a workable link. Sorry!
Thanks to everyone who is a regular checker. It's because I know that people visit this, that I decided to go with a more professional looking blog. This one was a great starter, and it got me familiar with how everything works, but it was time to move on. See you over on the new space

Non-passport picture
I just had to post this picture. This little girl came in this morning with her mom and dad to get a passport. As anyone who has gotten a passport done lately knows, they suck. No expression, head and shoulders facing forward, square to the camera. Ugly flat lighting. I told her once we got her boring picture, with no smile, we'd do a pretty one for her. I pulled in front of my new picture window in the studio and snapped one shot only. It's perfect! What a sweetie.

CALLING ALL 2009 GRADS!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I'm yelling!!!! I NEED to get some grads booked for October! I had so much fun last year doing outdoor grad casuals in the fall, but my September is already booked up for this year. I know that you all aren't really starting to think of casuals yet, but if you wait, we won't be able to do any outdoor stuff.
If you're in Grade 12, and want to do your casuals ouside, please call the studio and book an appointment. I'm filling up fast with families, and have no weekends left until mid november. I don't want to miss out on getting some students done while it's still nice, so dial away! 306-697-2435.
For more samples, visit the website, and go to Portfolios, then Celebrating 18, or check out my group on Facebook, Celebrating 18 with Paper Moon Photography.

Fun School Pictures
Tis almost the season of the dreaded School Picture!!!
For the past few years I've had students come to the studio to do their school pictures, instead of ordering the ones that are done through the schools. You can pick your backdrop (black, white, tan, chocolate, barnwall, purple, sage, etc.) and we'll do a few poses that don't look like your typical school photo. If the weather is good, we can even do an outdoor shot if you prefer (in my yard only).
These sessions are very mini, in that they only take 10 minutes or less. There is no session fee, and you are limited to 2 different poses. From those you can choose your package(s), and they will be back from the lab within approximately one week.
Because these are very quick sessions, it's easy to squeeze them in anytime, so call the studio to request a package price list and to book yourself in to get a school picture that you're not embarrassed by :)

Mine
Cool Family
The other night I went out with this family to do a session here in town. Thank goodness we did it later in the day. It was over 30 degrees during the day, so by 7:00, it was at least cooling off a bit! These kids were so good looking! I had a lot of fun with them :) Thanks for making the drive down guys!

Lumsden wedding
This past weekend I shot my first wedding after being back from holidays. I think I was more nervous than the bride and groom! After 8 years of shooting weddings, my stomach is still all butterflies every saturday.
This couple had the most beautiful ceremony. It was my first Orthodox ceremony, and it was so interesting. Nearly the entire ceremony was sung by the Father and the choir in the loft, and it felt so sacred. It was really cool to see this young couple have such a connection to their faith and eachother. I really enjoyed being a part of this ceremony, and experiencing the different traditions that it included.

Fall Sessions
For anyone wanting to book a family session for the fall, please contact the studio as soon as possible. I'm already booked for the remainder of August, and pretty close to full in September. There are no saturdays available between now and November, so during the week is the best I can do. I have also stopped taking Sunday bookings, to preserve my sanity and family!
Call the studio at 306-697-2435 or e-mail pmphoto@sasktel.net to inquire about available dates.

I'm back!
For those of you who check in regularly, I apologize for the long pause inbetween posts. My family has been gone on vacation for the past two weeks, but I didn't want to announce that on the blog and have someone break into my house!
I did a wedding on saturday in Lumsden (pictures to follow in a few days), and this was the view on my way home. Isn't Saskatchewan gorgeous??!!

Tough guy in the studio
More relatives!
My husband's family was all up for the wedding on saturday, so we did a session tonight with some of them. We did a mini session with one of the little guys first, then did a few more with the whole clan (well, almost ;) )
"Hey dude. Look at all those crazy old people trying to make us smile!"
The cousins. No girls here yet! But what sweet little boys.

tough guy
Every summer I get to visit my childhood friend when she comes up to visit her husband's family, or when I go up north to visit my family. This year we got together for a few hours at one of the lakes in our area. She has the two cutest boys you've ever seen. The other little guy was golfing with daddy, so no pics of him this time. Here's her younger dude. He's so kissable!
Article on the importance of professional photographs
I just came across this article that was posted on another photographers blog. If you ever are thinking that you aren't sure whether or not you should get professional photos done of your children, read this article.
On that note as well, I will be limiting my sessions to 2 - 3 per week in the fall, so if you are thinking of booking, please contact me sooner than later. I fill up with families VERY quickly come September, but I am very swamped with wedding album designing in the next few months, and will only have time for a few family sessions per week.

Sparkly
I just had to add these. I got a big picture window put in the studio, in place of one of the garage doors. I love it! So any of you that have been here before and come into my living room for pictures by the window, you'll know why I wanted this in the studio so much! It's fantastic light. Just look at those sparkles!

Our newest family member
Well, today I lost the title of the only young Duryba wife. I now get to share it with an awesome chick and we can carry on the Duryba name together!
Today's wedding was a blast. The groom is my husband's first cousin, and he is a major car guy. He had his Dart all prettied up and ready for the wedding, so of course, a portion of the pictures had it in there. We had a great time at the supper and got to visit with all the aunties and uncles and cousins, so it was fun to be able to relax after a wedding and just enjoy everyone's company. We're so happy for you guys. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! (p.s. I gave you an extra long preview since it'll take me a bit of extra time to get them all edited with holidays coming up for us)
"What kind of smile are you doing??" asks Reg.
"We'll do our nice pretty sister smiles".
"Now the We're Having The Time of our Lives!! smile.
We had to somehow get the rings incorporated into the car as well. Here's what we came up with! Their love is "locked"... I know, I'm a dork. But I had to give a clue as to what it was if some people were wondering!
